Salvinia cucullata is a unique floating aquatic fern with small, rounded leaves that form tight, cushion-like clusters on the water’s surface. Its leaves are water-repellent and textured, giving it a velvety appearance. Ideal for open-top aquariums, ponds, or emersed setups, it provides excellent shade and helps reduce algae by limiting light. Fast-growing under moderate to high light, it thrives in still water and absorbs excess nutrients. A great choice for natural setups, it's fish- and shrimp-safe but should be thinned regularly to prevent overcrowding.
